Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”

Yesterday I did some reading and listening and found the contrasts fascinating but the outcome the same:  we need to ask new questions/reality based questions.  We need to ACT now.

Here is what I was reading:

Jacob on Sensophy interviewed 66 blog leaders about what they would dream to do if they knew that they could not FAIL?   The answers were well worth the read.   The question seems to be from Tony Robbins the self-motivation guru.   Many responses were altruistic; many more were about using their own energy.

Next I listened to the Dalai Lama on the Pursuit of Happiness,  a 50 minute podcast from Emery University shared by NPR’S ON BEING program and the program’s host.  There were 5 other world religious leaders there also with a crowd of 4,000.   It was fascinating and funny and well worth the listen.  These folks were asking age old questions and retrieving age old answers in a new way, with a more global responsibility.  And they all said that the pursuit of happiness is our life work!

One of the answers to the Sensophy questions directed me to a TED lecture by Naomi Klein: Addicted to Risk. She talked about the gulf oil spill and the oil sand stripping in Canada and said we are not only asking the wrong questions, looking at the wrong direction, but we need to be taking action now and just STOP what we are doing.

I believe they are all right, we must not be worried about failing, but more worried about what will happen if we do not make the effort.   We must pursue our happiness, which is our responsibility and our own personal JIHAD within each of us.  It is our primary work.  And we need to stop putting dates our there which we can tip toe and waltz to the results.

We need to dream a building into existence now and be responsible to every aspect from foundation to air.   We need to not use toxic products and we must ask the people we are designing for to comply.  We must stop setting dates out into the great unknown and start healing the here and now.  This is our action and our revolution and we all need to lead and not become distracted.  We are here to inspire in our pursuit of happiness.

What do you think are the right questions to be asking?

    Abram,
I am sorry to just get to your comment. The local Sierra Club is doing a large phone calling on this very issue right now as our legislature is debating it, on the floor right now. Sightline Blog did a much more detailed investigation and truly all we are left with is the pollution.
